Fond du Lac Running Club Spring/Summer Track Workouts
When: Every Tuesday, May 21 – August 27, 2013 – 7 PM.
Where: Oriole Athletic Complex in North Fond du Lac on Humphrey Drive.
July Track Meet: Tentative date of July 9, 7 PM.
August Track Meet: Tentative date of August 20, 6:30 PM.
Overview:
Our club’s weekly track workouts will be held each Tuesday from May 21 until August 27. Our weekly gatherings are free and open to the public. Non-running club members are encouraged to join. All workouts will begin at 7 PM at the Oriole Athletic Complex on Humphrey Drive (just north of Horace Mann High School in North Fond du Lac; 2 blocks north of McKinley Street on Prospect Ave). The track is usually open by 6:30 PM.
Participants have the opportunity to arrive early to warm up as needed. Typically we don’t start the workout until 7:15 PM. At that time, general announcements are made and the workout for the evening is explained. We do a total of 3 miles worth of running on the track each week. Participants are encouraged to complete the workout at their own ability level. Not everyone has to run the entire workout. All ages and abilities are welcome. We typically have 30-40 people each week and sometimes more. Restrooms are available.
Some other items to keep in mind:
-2013 location is in North Fond du Lac.
-Plenty of parking is available.
-Bathrooms are available at the track.
-Bring your own items to eat and drink.
-In case of bad weather, a running club representative will still be at the track since some people do show up yet.
-Use your best judgment if the weather looks to be bad, especially for those of you who live out of town.
-Please dress appropriately based on the weather and have extra/dry clothes with you.
-There will be a different workout each week adding up to 3 miles.
-There are usually two groups running together (a faster group and a slower group) based on recovery times.
-Repeats range from 50m to 1600m, although most will be 400m to 1600m.
-Complete the workout at your own pace and don’t worry about where you are compared to the group.
-There will be optional time trials of various distances throughout the 18 weeks.
-Track meets for 2013 are scheduled for July 9 at 7 PM and August 20 at 6:30 PM.
-Everyone will need to sign a waiver the first time you show up which will cover all 18 weeks.
-All ages and abilities are welcome. Not everyone has to run the full 3 miles on the track.
